The Governor of Sousse, Sofien Tanfouri, inspected the Sahel Transport Company (STS) depot and its maintenance workshops on Tuesday 9 September 2026. The aim was to check that the fleet is ready for school and university transport at the start of the new year.
Why this visit?
The STS carries a large share of the Sahel's pupils and students. Every year, the start of term partly depends on how many of its buses are available.
The Governor therefore examined the equipment and followed the progress of vehicle repair work. The visit is part of the regional follow-up ahead of the new school year.
What the STS says
Abderraouf Dhahri, the company's Deputy Chief Executive, said that managers and staff are fully mobilised to provide school and university transport.
In practical terms, the workshops are working on buses under repair before the first routes begin. No figures were given on the number of vehicles available or on the routes affected.
