The Gabès Regional Transport Company is deploying 88 buses to carry pupils and students for the 2026-2027 school and university year. And that's not all: 74 additional vehicles are planned for 2027.

The plan was presented during a working meeting dedicated to preparations for school and university transport in the governorate of Gabès.

Where do the 74 new buses come from?

The 74 announced vehicles are split between two separate operations. On one side, 50 buses under an international tender. On the other, 24 vehicles through a specific tender.

These deliveries are planned for 2027, so not for the upcoming school year. The current fleet, strengthened by the 88 buses being deployed, will have to be enough in the meantime.

Subscriptions can now be paid online

New this year: school subscriptions can be paid remotely. This is the first time the company is offering this service, available through its website.

In practice, you no longer need to travel to pay for your subscription. You can do everything from home, before the first day of school.

How many subscribers are expected?

The company is counting on 19,500 school and university subscriptions for this school year. That's a big volume, which explains the effort being made across the governorate.

What you should do now

If you're a pupil or student in Gabès, the right move is simple: go to the company's website for your subscription, instead of waiting in queues at the counters.

For the year's calendar, keep in mind that the 2026-2027 school year comes several months before the bac exams, whose official dates are published every year by the Ministry of Education on education.gov.tn. You can also check the official exam calendar, updated on our site as soon as it is published.

As for the 74 extra buses, they will only apply to later school years. No exact delivery date has been announced beyond 2027.
