School books are available at a rate of 95 to 97% in Tunisian bookshops, said Jamel Eddine Dardour, president of the national booksellers' chamber, on 9 September 2026. The missing titles should be restocked within the week.
Where does subsidised notebook distribution stand?
The pace is steady, especially in Greater Tunis, according to Dardour. Supplying bookshops in the region had started more than a week before his statement.
Efforts are now focused on the inland regions of the country. Distribution there should start by the end of the week.
As for the total quantity of subsidised notebooks, everything will be available during September 2026. If you have not found your notebooks yet, a trip to the bookshop at the end of the month should be enough.
Which books are still missing?
The shortage remains limited. It affects some secondary school titles and only two books for Year 3 of primary school, Dardour specifies. The missing quantities are expected within the week.
So you can head to the bookshop without fearing a general shortage. Around 6,500 bookshops are open across the country to provide school supplies.
What to watch now
The two dates that matter to you: the end of this week for the launch of notebook distribution in inland regions, and the end of September for the full availability of subsidised quantities.
No information has been given about possible supply difficulties beyond this week. For final-year students, the bac timetable is still available via the official exam calendar, and secondary school books are among the titles covered by this week's restocking.
