The Minister of Education Nourredine Nouri inspected the Al Jala high school building site in Bizerte on Tuesday 8 September 2026, a 11.5 million dinar project that had been suspended for 4 years. Work finally started in October 2025.
Why this school took so long
The project sat on hold for four years. The whole tendering process had to be relaunched before work could actually start in October 2025.
The result: a new high school that will be the only one in the whole district of Bizerte Sud. A real change for local families.
Who the Al Jala high school will serve
The future school will welcome around 300 pupils in their ninth year, coming from the El Mssida and El Jala middle schools. It will open with 9 classes of first-year secondary students.
The stated goal: to ease the pressure on the Farhat Hached and Habib Thameur high schools in Bizerte, which are full to bursting today. So if you sit the bac in the region in the coming years, your class sizes could actually drop.
What the minister asked for on site
Nourredine Nouri also visited the regional branch of the National Pedagogical Centre. He insisted on one specific point: speeding up the distribution of school textbooks, an issue that often delays the start of the school year.
