6,000 baccalaureate holders have asked for a place in vocational training this year, out of the 26,000 places open in training centres. The Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, Riadh Chaoued, announced this on Monday 7 September 2026, on the sidelines of Science Day.

If you have just got your bac and you are still hesitating between university and a shorter path, this figure shows that vocational training is no longer a marginal route. A quarter of the available places already interest bac holders.

What does it change for you?

The ministry plans 17,000 beds in hostels attached to the training centres. In practice, you can follow a training course far from home without spending a fortune on accommodation.

Six new specialities are being introduced, including care assistant. Extra options will also be added in 21 training centres. The stated goal: match the needs of the job market.

What about artificial intelligence?

12 artificial intelligence labs will be set up in training establishments. Good news on paper, but the ministry has not yet said where they will be located or when they will open. If you are aiming for an AI-related speciality, keep an eye on the ministry's announcements before making your choice.

What to do now?

If the bac did not go as you hoped, or if you prefer a short, job-focused course, compare the specialities offered near you. Also think about the resit session: it gives you a second chance in July, and the official website education.gov.tn publishes the official texts and calendars every year.

To track your file and your results, the bac.tn portal remains the reference. And if you want to estimate your average or explore your options, have a look at our bac average calculator and our university orientation simulator.
