The Ministry of the Interior has launched a national digital campaign to issue ID cards to candidates sitting the baccalaureate in session 2027. It starts on 20 January and runs until the end of February 2026.
In practice, everything happens through a digital platform. It relies on an interoperability mechanism between administrations: your file moves between departments without you having to run around everywhere.
Why this campaign?
The stated goal: cut processing times and reduce the documents required from pupils. Less paperwork, less waiting. That is the main change compared with the usual procedure.
For a bac candidate, the ID card is not a minor administrative detail. It is required to sit the exams and for the orientation steps that follow the results. So it is best to deal with it early, not in June.
How to take advantage of it
The campaign targets pupils who will sit the 2027 session of the baccalaureate. If that is you, the period to start the process runs from 20 January to the end of February 2026. The press release does not detail the registration steps on the platform: wait for instructions from your school or check the ministry website, education.gov.tn for the school calendar.
